Here is a Chittam (smoketree) burl from a trade with Chigdon (thanks Chris!). I turned it tonight and finished with CA.

It is a wonderful wood and wish I can find/get more.

Comments/Critiques welcome.

Dario,
Very nice. Is it related to ****tim (I think acacia in the Bible)?
Rob

Thanks guys.

Rob, I don't think it is even remotely related. Chittam (chittum) is commonly known as smoketree. The tree resembles crepe myrtle a lot.

This wood have the chatoyance of premium koa. I would bet that a curly piece will even shine better. [^]

Wayne,

It did move up my favorite list fast! Not sure if I can say it is my absolute favorite but it is up there. It also turns, sands and finish easily!!! [:0] Few wood can claim all these features.

You are right that pics can never do it justice...but it is almost always true for most pen material anyway (with my pics atleast [:D] ).

Guess you know I won't be trading you any of my remaining Chittam right? [}:)][;)][:D] LOL

Billy,

Yes, this looks like it is curly but what you are seing is actually burl eye rays...not curl per se.

Would you want sauce on that hat? LOL [:D][}:)]
