I got a hold of a slab of Chilean Laurel Burl. Hadn't heard of this wood before, but it looked like a great burl. It's been drying in my shop for a few months. Turns out as this wood dries, it develops cracks and checks which I love to see. I filled the voids with some Red Iron Oxide and finished with CA. Placed on a Black Ti Vertex. Nature creates some amazing things!

Thanks for looking!

Eric, That is a stunning pen! Great finish! Not sure why you picked the red iron oxide but it really sets off the pen and particularly the wood beautifully. ...and that wood is gorgeous. Never seen it before. Great job and thanks for sharing. Regards, Doc:)

I searched back in history and haven't found any other pens made from this wood. It looks like it is used in veneer work quite a bit.

I just keep coming back to this pen over and over again to look at it. It looks sooooo good. I just love the finish on it, as well as the pairing with the kit.
