My version of the Russ Line pen. Its Cherry on top, oak on the bottom (white oak sap wood) both cut from my own back yard, made it for my wife. Still working on the photography skills though. Need to build a light box. Still though, it looks pretty good, what do you think?

That's a nice combination of woods. I would not have thought that oak could look like that. The cherry is very nice, looks almost like burl. It's very satisfying to find nice wood in pieces that most folks would burn for firewood.
I'm sure your wife was very pleased!
