In preparation for the professor J. Brooks arrival to the Raleigh meeting tomorrow, I thought I may need to practice for the casting exam.

Here's my first full attempt at casting for depth and swirls. I've included a photo of the cast blank for reference. I'm developing some very interesting techniques. And having a great time at it. It's almost like opening a present to see what's in side. Surprise!!!

This is a Navigator with the tubes painted black and the blanks reverse painted as well. The pen was sanded to 600 grit, MM to 12000 and two applications of Novus 2.

Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

Great looking pen. The casting looks great. I have a Black TI Navigator outside that I prepped yesterday w/ an Ambnoya Burl blank. Makes me want to go make it happen.

I'm casting in the baby soda bottle test tubes and using a wire and syringe to mix in the pearl to the color. I've got a couple with three colors that I've got ready to turn. It's a surprise in the middle everytime!
