I did some casting last week, first time trying Silmar 41 and Wooly Mammoth Ivory, I've worked with Elephant ivory before and it was just a tiny bit harder than deer antler, This stuff was HARD as a rock one possible explanation was
IT'S FOSSILIZED DUMMY.
Smells just like tooth or tusk or antler.
Thanks for looking and please don't worry,No woodchucks were harmed while making this pen.

Very nice Ken.

So I guess the Silmar and Mammoth Ivory didn't come apart.....

Not on this one, I did have one break apart getting it out of the mold, I used too big of pieces and the Ivory may have been a little bit dirty, I still have almost 3/4 of a pound and I'll cut it up into smaller pieces and sand them just a bit before I cast them.

Ken, that's some very nice work. I wonder if I send you my wisdom teeth that I saved and you make me something out of it to remind me that I lost my wisdom.:biggrin::tongue:

Nice casting, but small pieces (ice age mosaic blank) looks more interesting.
Red resin not looks good with gun metal finish.
Lower barrel diameter not match with centerband.
You should bent clip to match barrel curveness.
