Ok. I'm new. I haven't turned my own pen yet but am currently collecting woods. Recently I picked up a block of Cascara Burl and have found it to be rare. I cut it up into a bunch of blanks and had one turned. Also, I've purchased some wood from Rare Woods including Jinsi Nanmu.

Both of these pens were turned by Richard Martin at Fountain City Furniture. He is very good and great to deal with. I sent him the timbers and he turned the pens for me. Thanks Richard.

The Cascara Burl (Rhamnus purshiana) is an Emporer in Rhodium/22k

The Jinsi Nanmu is a Jr. Gentleman II / Gold Titanium.

Please let me know what you think about these and esp the Cascara, as I've never seen a Cascara Burl pen anywhere else.

Thanks for looking.:)

The Cascara Burl is a very elegant pen, almost makes me want to throw rocks at my IBO Jr.Emperor, the Nanmu is OK but other than being a semi rare wood, isn't as lively and exciting as the Cascara Burl, I guess that's why the old ones made coffins from it, although I wouldn't run right out and bury it.
