Every once in a while I find one of my favourite timbers undamaged by Termites to cut across the grain using two separate blanks. As the sapwood disappears in the turning mostly this pen opened up the beauty that lies within. The colours can be totally strong or beautifully blended this also I love in the challenge. Totally Aussie character in its growth as a bush never tree, typical struggle against the elements and folks like me.

Peter.

Peter, this finished pen is beautiful!

I love working with wood. I love turning blanks that I have no idea what will result. I also love turning spindle blanks of dubious/unknown identity and have high hopes for a nice result.

Your final pen is incredible for the grain patterns and colors. Very nice. I do admire the timbers you Aussies can gather.

Thanks for sharing!
