Just completed this. Cambridge fountain with Red Mallee Burl. Alot harder wood that I thought it would be. Came out decent though. Did the CA thing but I think I really like the wax finish better. Oh well net time. as always comment good or bad welcome. Thanks Jeremy

Very nice looking pen, I didnt like doing ca finishes either until I kept practiceing it. Now I try and do a ca finish on every pen because I have got alot better at it. In my opinion it looks much better with a finish that lasts longer.

I'll admit I need pratice at the CA but I just prefer the wax finish. With the CA it no longer feels like wood might as well be acrylic. I like the feel of the wood in my hand.

Awesome job. I tried a 3 way wax finish on one of my pens, it was nice to feel the wood, but it really didn't stand up to daily use, I know it sucks for wood to feel plastic, but I think you can find a balance. Regardless, your pen is a very beautiful writing instrument!

Someone here a few months back, did an experiment by dulling the finish on a CA pen but polishing the wood surface of another pen till it looked similar to what we expect of a CA finish. Most people thought the dulled CA finish felt and looked more like wood than the wood one. go figure.

I will be working on developing something to get the fininsh where I want it. While very durable I'm sure most pens like this are more desk pens and anyone that uses them daily can appreciate the patina scars they get from daily handling. Just my personal opinion, however I will absolutley continue to do the CA finsh because paying customers like it. And as a side note this finish is coming off tomorrow and getting the shelwax treatment.
