My daughter has been selling these sketch pencils at school. This is a Box Elder Burl that was Stabilized and Dyed Blue (first try at dyeing, didn't use enough die). Love the way these turn after being "Juiced"
Great Pens David
All look Great,
Fit and Finish Terrific,
Only one problem I can see, That is getting the Cash from one Daughter.
Ah well them's the rub's.
Brian.
Those are nice David.
Not sure how you dye yours, probably when you stabilize the blanks but, when i dye my box elder, i do it on the lathe just like i do a ca finish. I use alcohol dye from hobby lobby. Drip the dye on top of the blank with a piece of cotton cloth on the bottom rubbing it in. Also, my BE is not stabilized so it takes the dye pretty good, not sure how well it would work on wood that has been stabilized.
