My local woodworking group cut down a tree with over 100 burls . They have been selling off pieces so I got a couple of chunks to cut up for pen blanks. Here is the first one from it. The two pictures show how the grain moves back and forth.

Anyways, the burl is Maple and the tree had a mistletoe infection which means the pieces that have eyes have reddish brown eyes (really cool looking). I might offer some up for sale here if there is interest. Thanks for the comments and criticisms.

Hans, It's a beautiful Pen, and I too would be interested in a blank or two, I had no idea Mistletoe had that effect on trees, we used to have a bunch of Oaks in Texas that had lots of it, here in Tenuhsea not so much.
