Getting back into the swing again in the workshop.

Lots more pens to make so I'm going to be a busy boy these next few weeks.

This is a Burl Eucalypt Roman Harvest.

20 thin Coats of CA, micromesh all the way to the finest grit then Brasso and Automotive wax.

Any comments or suggestions is always appreciated.

Regards

Awesome looking pen. I'll have to try the Brasso. What type of automotive wax? Just curious, what is the advantage of the Brasso and wax after the 20 coats CA and micro meshing? How long does the wax shine last?

I use Meguiar's Cut and wax. The CA coating is very durable. The wax on top of the CA is to give it a showroom shine and to keep the finger prints off. The wax will very quickly wear away once it leaves the showroom.

Brasso is a Brass polish. Its a paste polish. I find it more fine than the finest micromesh pad. It just helps bring the shine up.

Never thought about using Brasso in the finishing process? Always thought it was for use on metal and such....guess I learned something new today!

Beautiful piece of timber you choose for this one! Keep the turningz coming!!!!
