I turned this Americana Rollerball using a nice Buckeye Burl pen blank with the intention of entering it in the Pretty Wood Pen contest. It turned out pretty nice but I didn't think it was going to win any prizes...so I went with plan B.

I've always loved the look of Buckeye burl.
It can be a pain to turn though.
The last one I turned required multiple coats of thin CA while turning, as I was afraid that I would blow a chunk out.
Really turned out nice though.

Steve,

That is a very beautiful pen. I love a really beautiful Buckeye burl. You did a great job photographing it as well. I find Buckeye to be challenging to photograph.
