Buckeye Burl - Almost My PWPC Entry

I turned this Americana Rollerball using a nice Buckeye Burl pen blank with the intention of entering it in the Pretty Wood Pen contest. It turned out pretty nice but I didn't think it was going to win any prizes...so I went with plan B.

Steve, I hoard every piece of wood that comes into my sights and your wood is still more beautiful .... how do you do it ??

I've always loved the look of Buckeye burl.
It can be a pain to turn though.
The last one I turned required multiple coats of thin CA while turning, as I was afraid that I would blow a chunk out.
Really turned out nice though.

That is a very beautiful pen. I love a really beautiful Buckeye burl. You did a great job photographing it as well. I find Buckeye to be challenging to photograph.
