Just finished a couple of days ago. This is a Monterey Pine cone cast in bronze powder. The finish is iridescent and absolutely beautiful to look at.
This cone was partially open at the end and a lot of the core was captured in the cap.

Sharp looking

Did you have to stabilize the pine cone first? I tried to turn a pine cone that was cast in resin and when I got down to the woody part, it blew away.

I pressure cast the cones at a pretty high pressure and if the cone is dense, then the inside will still be a little woody, but if the cone is old and dry, then the resin will get all the way through it.

If yours blew up, then chances are you were pressing too hard and caught an edge on one of the denser leaves. I can't tell you how many I've destroyed over the years!
