I made this version of the cross pen for a friend who teaches 'Kingdom Kids' at my twins pre-school. It is BOW with abalone cross inlay. The 'hills/scallops' and lower barrel are bubinga and the top was turned from ebony. I used a non-standard center band to add width and went sans clip. I'm not sure about the lack of clip, but didn't want it to interfere with the overall statement.

The five abalone dots on the lower barrel represent Jesus' 5 wounds.

Beautiful composition and it looks like an excellent execution.

I agree that a clip would have detracted from the design. Perhaps this would be a candidate for creating a stand and turning it into a desk pen?
