I start at the bottom 1500 and wet micro mesh until I get the shine I want. I also sand with 400 grit sandpaper before I start micro meshing. Just kill the shine which is leveling ridges. Thanks for the comments everyone.

The pen is spectacular. The CA job is fabulous and so skilled.

I know because I have a blank sitting on the lathe frosted because somehow while wet sanding it during the CA application I got moisture under the CA. She gets sanded down to wood tomorrow to start the whole process over again! I only wish I could get mine to look like Alton's.

Alton, that's a pretty piece of wood and an awesome finish. Great work.
