A few days ago I asked for info about doing a finish other than CA glue. I decided to go with Tru-Oil since I already had some and I had refinished a rifle stock with it in the past. It turned out pretty good and I think my friend will be pleased. Here are the results...All comments are welcome.

And if the finish starts to look too dry, I'm betting the 'friend' might have some more oil for taking care of his collection:wink:

Thanks for the kind words and yes, it is Walnut. This guy loves guns  and fortunately for me he likes pens too!

I use Tru Oil on all my turkey calls...tough stuff, holds up to bug juice etc.

I have used it on deer antler when CA was giving me fits.

I am still holding out on the bolt actions, after making a large number "real" cartridge pens, I just can't make myself do a knock off.

I've made a few "real" (bullet pens) and several from kits. I was the same way about the bolt action but they are a real attention getter and very easy to make.
