I took a little different approach to using the bog oak. As was said some of it is too thin for large pens so I glued a piece of paduk to the front and drilled and turned. I really like the way it came out, especially on this style of pen. It is hard to see the color but it is a soft blackish grey and very nice to work with.

Thanks for your comments. I was not sure if I was going to even like it or not. I had to pick a pen that the pattern did not twist, like the Executive by Woodcraft. I sanded both pieces of wood very smooth on my belt sander(Yes, I lost a little skin on my finger tips! Ha Ha!) Then I just used regular wood glue, nothing fancy.Dry overnight. The end and nib are part of the pen kit. For anyone not useing an Executive before the twist happens at the top where the wood meets the black top. I wish the color of the oak bog would show in the picture. It is a very soft blackish, brown. This is the carbondated oak bog evryone is talking about.
