Yup, the towel photo.....try a plain white background or anything without texture(it will make the 'eye' look at the item instead of wandering around on the background).
The pen is great! Looks like a good piece of timber(nice lines), and it was put together right(grain matched)!!!
What kind of finish did you use?

Nice pen blank! Beautiful pen!
That's nice. You did a nice job matching up the grain. Re: the photo, I'm shooting on a towel right now too. I liked it better when I was using a smooth light blue backing and may go back to it, or something like it. I also like sitting one end of the pen up on a rough-cut blank and shooting the side profile.
