Here's an experiment using Transtint Blue on some nice looking Maple. This comes from a quite large Maple Crotch section I recently acquired. It has some fabulous grain and a bit of spalting.

I applied the blue dye and sanded it back a little, then finished with CA (MM'd all the way to 12000)

Liking what I saw, I made a 'big brother' for her too ..... :biggrin:

Excellent! Very cool. Glad you got to work on something that interesting. I gotta try to dye something again. Magic Marker leaves a lot to be desired as a dyeing medium.
