This material is the hardest material I've turned to date but the look makes it all worthwhile to me. The pic doesn't show the veining very well so I can add photography to my list of things to learn more about.

Good job John, I like the subtle curves.

The Blue Lapis is a tricky one for me because of the gold veining in the blank. One part of me says to use a gold kit, the other says rhodium because the gold is a different looking gold than that of the kit. This is the first rhodium I have seen and it looks good with the blank.

Actually, I think that is a black TI kit. The centerband is rhodium where on a rhodium kit it would be gold. Of course, I could be all wet. The pen, however is definately not. Beautiful fit and the curve is just exactly right to my eye.

Anybody tried turning a centerband out of truestone? I've never worked with it, so I don't know if it's even a possibility. It may be too brittle to even consider.
