Greetings
About I week ago I posted in the Casual Converastion forum that I crashes my cross slide into the cap and ruined months of work. Well I salvaged it by boring a clearance hole in the finial. It worked out OK. It took me about 6 months to design and make.

The pen has an Emerald Blue blank from Exotics and a #5 Hesitance nib. The blue has nice glitter stripes in it. The clip is big and heavy. This is my new daily cary.

I am surprised how nice it feels even with the step for the flush cap. I sized it so it wouldn't rub on my hand.

Capped length=5.305 inches
Uncapped length=5.062 in
Major OD = 0.565 in
Capped weight= 22 gr'
uncapped weight = 14 gr

Sorry, I thought I loaded the photos properly. They show up nice and big on my iMac.

Mal
i use 1/2-32NF for the cap/body threads, 3/8-24NF for the body/section and 1/4-52WF (Whitworth Fine) for the feed. Someday I'll switch to metric taps 'cause it's easier to figure out the bore diameter.

The only improvement would be getting rid of the scratches.
I like the color and I hope to get to that level some day.

If those are 1/2" threads near the nib end, does that make the body diameter about 5/8"? It looks like it steps up about a 1/16" on the top edge, which would be 1/8" diameter increase.
If that is the case, that seems pretty large. Is that a normal diameter?

That's a really nice pen, Mike !!! . 1/4"-52 for the feed . that's a thread pitch of only 19.2 thou ... nearly same as 0.5mm .

Can you please tell me what the name of that blank is on the Exotics website ?

Hi John
I swear the scratches were not there after polishing. It's like the "camera adds ten pounds" except for me it adds scratches. I have to pay more attention to the minute scratches before polishing.

The major OD is 0.565 in, the section is 0.5 diameter tapering to about 0.44. Since the major OD is about 2 inches from the nib it sits in the opening made by your thumb nd index finger so it doesn't affect writing.
