First off I would like to say this is not my work I am merely doing photo's of the pen so all credits should go to Toni for this, even the photography.

Second yes there is a CA finish on the assembled pens and YES it is shiny and YES it is reflective. While a reflective finish is super easy to work around the metal trim is not.

This is the mythical blue dragon scale pen, forgive me because I am color blind this may be purple and some of the colors may be off on this so bear with me on this as some of these images may have incorrect color balance. These WILL be re-shot and fixed but for now I wanted to share.

In the limited time that I have access to these I wanted to pull out all the stops so I decided on this shoot to break out:
  • Tight twist damascus arrowhead
  • Gyrocarpus americanus burl
  • Fossilized Brain coral (Faviidae sp.)
  • tabilized spalted dyed birch burl paring knife.
  • Black mother of Pearl
  • stabilized dyed camel bone knife.
  • spalted mango bowl blank
  • hand carved floral box

*) No dragons were harmed while making this pen.

The damascus arrowheads are hand made but not by me. They were done by a master bladesmith in Idaho. I have been looking, still am, for just the right combo for the pen and the damascus is very close.

These are done with various damascus billets. The pure epic beauty of this combo is this type of damascus steel is made in a similar way that cane's are made, except it is steel. The billets are in the rough shape as they are not 'final fit' ready but for our purpose they will suffice I think.

This is the US Flag. This block will be used for bolsters on a knife.

This is star and stripes billet. This could become a knife blade, also a hilt, bolsters, guard or even scales for that matter.

This is a celtic pattern. This could become a knife blade. I was doing some testing on etching intensity where you see the dark vs light on the billet.

This is tight twist. This was a knife blade and also a hilt on a dagger and now it's eye candy :)
