This is my final blank from first stabilizing experiment. This is box elder burl (not much burl) dyed in blue cactus juice. Finish is CA.

Wow beautiful! May I ask what your finishing process is?

With lathe at slow speed apply 3 coats of thin CA, then 5-8 coats of medium CA. Then micromesh all the way through 12000 with lathe speed about 1800 rpms. followed by a plastic polish then a light buffing with an acrylic buffing compound with lathe speed around 1200.

Hope that helps

Thanks a lot Dale. I see so many variations out there that it's hard to know where to start. If I can get a finish half as good as on that beautiful pen, I'll be ecstatic!

Thanks!
