I loved collecting pens until I learned to make one. I took a class at Woodcraft and then started turning. It is such a nice feeling to see a friend or family members face when you give them a pen that you made for them. Anyway, Hi from Houston. I've attached one of my recent pens that I placed in my Members Photo Albums. Wizard

Thats beautiful work! Welcome.

And for what its worth, below are links to two threads/articles that have lots of information on pen turning. The first one is a very basic overview of the many aspects of getting into turning pens.
http://www.penturners.org/forum/showthread.php?t=42446

The second link has postings by different pen turners and what they wish they had known earlier:

Here is another link - a PDF on the acronyms used here. I am sure you know many but this will help with those you don't.

That's really beautiful work! I know my early pens didn't look like that!

Welcome . . . and for what its worth,

Hey Wizard. I took my class at Woodcraft on FM 1960. If this is where you attended maybe we could run into each other.

Thank you all so much for all the encouraging comments. I noticed I got on the site more just to see the feedback. I have been putting my pens photos on the Members Photos for a while until I finally worked up the courage to write a thread with a photo. Thanks again!!:embarrassed:
