Back in the Saddle

Hey All

Have been away from pen turning for a while. In fact, I have not turned a thing in two years. I was recently approached to turn 40 shredded Canadian money pens. At $150.00 per pen, how could I refuse. I had 4 weeks to do it, and it certainly caused me a lot of stress. But today they were delivered and payed for. I forgot how much i enjoy this

Here are an few pictures of the finished products, and a couple others I had to do just because it is fun.

Welcome back; I know what it's like to have taken a couple (about 5 in my case (!)) years off. It takes a few turns to knock the rust off

Nice work, and $150 per pen??? Holy moley!

I made some and gave them away* but had I known that they were worth that much I would have kept making them.

* They were turned for the family of a Bank of Canada employee who passed away. The blanks were cast for free by a member here on IAP when he found out what they were for. I sent him a bag of shredded cash and he sent me back some cigar blanks.What an awesome community.

I am new to turning, what Kit is that you used?

The kit is a Cigar Hybrid 18c.
It is a very well received pen in my experience. There is also a similar kit available in titanium and gold. Not sure what it is called.

This transaction keeps getting better. I received several thank you cards from the senior management of the company that ordered these pens, including one from the CEO. Included in the CEO'S envelope was two tickets to a Calgary Flames hockey game. ROW 7 !!!!!!! Ticket value $272.00 Each.

Absolutely awesome. A real nice surprise.
