Aqua Fortis first try

Been wanting to try the "old fashioned" method for popping the curly maple. Finally bought some aqua fortis from Track of The Wolf and gave it a try. I'm a believer now....looks great and wasn't that hard. Very surprised that with this method (and assuming the right piece of wood) the curl goes completely around the pen. With oil only it did not do that.

Nitric Acid and iron mixture can really bring out the curly on some Maple.
Looks great.

I use that on gun stocks. Careful if you are sealing it.
