Here's an apricot Euro in Ti-Gold. I was surprised at how apricot colored the wood was after I started turning it. The wood came from a tree that a friend took down last year.

Here's what you end up doing if you don't have a bandsaw with the capacity (or horsepower) to resaw a 6-7" log.The saw used is called a frame resaw and the log is being held in the shoulder vise on my (homemade) cabinetmaker's bench. Handtool woodworkers (called Galoots in Internet woodworking circles) rediscovered the ancient frame resaw and use them to resaw veneer. I've been using mine to cut up logs into pen blanks.

Nice pen. I found a branch down off an apricot tree a few years ago up north in Traverse City. Wasn't much, but I have enough for half dozen pens myself! It has nice color, and certainly is hard wood.
