This is a sentimental pen so the not-so-fantastic wood won't matter to the owner. This photo is my latest experiment with HDR. It shows what little chatoyancy this wood has better than all the single exposure photos I took.
To put it simpler: this HDR photo looks more like the pen than any of the normal photos.

Yeah, wood with a special meaning doesn't have to be spectacular. The fact that it reminds someone of a special place or event is better than any exotic burl.

What are you talking about. It looks like mine. It took years to get that antiqued weathered look. But seriously, it does have character.
