A buddy came over today and saw my woodworkers pencil and asked if I would make him one.. of course he picked a piece of 2yr old black locust for the pencil... can you say "Let's turn a piece of concrete!!" [:p]
Drilled it on the lathe in my pin jaws, sanded to 600 grit then 2 coats of sanding sealer and 3 coats of lacquer friction polish and a coat of Ren Wax.. found some nice figure in the blank and of course the fantastic chatoyance of black locust .. the picture shows two sides of the finished pencil

Get your buddy back over there I three questions:

1. Overall length of pencil?

2. Length of wood section?

3. Diameter at widest point?

Or just measure one you have on hand.

Thank you
Chuckie

Chuckie (BTW, I really hope your not a real mean spirited doll [}:)]),
The blank is trimmmed to 4 9/16", overall length is 5 9/16" without the lead extended...
Diameter is anything you want it to be.. Diameter just behind the metal tip is 1/2"
The rest is up your imagination... Here is a different one I made.. shape it up to you..
Take a look at these threads for more ideas

And if you want a set of bushings plus the recommended drill bit, regularly 19.98 plus shipping from CSUSA, I'll be glad to sell them to you for $15 including shipping. The bushings were used twice and the bit is unopened.

In that case I am headed to the shop and will not return without a pen in hand!
