I have made this pen this way so I can get a better hold of it and I love the feel and it works well for me. It is made of purple heart wood and it was fun to make. I can see I'm still not getting close enough to the bushing there on the nib part but the rest of the pen looks great as far as I'm concerned... Enjoy Fay

You make an excellent point that pens should be made for feel and usefulness, after all, they are tools as well as art. I'm glad that you found one that works well for you. Keep 'em coming!

A close match of blank to nib is not as important for a pen of that style. For a smoothly tapered style, it's nice to have them match well so there's a nice feel as you run your finger across the joint, but for this style, it's mostly just a matter of appearance. I actually kinda like the way the nib looks on this one.
