For my CA Only finish I first sand to 12000 MM. Then I fill and seal blank with Thin CA and sand to 12000MM.
Turn lathe down to 800 RPM.
Place 8-10 drops of Thin CA on a blue shop towel and run across blank.
Let CA dry for 10-15 minuets.
Sand with 1500 grit.
Stop lathe and sand length of blank with 1500 grit and then rub down with fine #0000 steel wool to remove any ridge marks.
Wipe down blank with Tack cloth.
I repeat this 6-8 times and then polish from 3600 to 12000 MM.
Apply protective coat fo Brazilian Caranuba.

This seems to work for me.
