A few weeks ago I turned a Buffalo Horn... That is one of the smoothest pens I have ever made. Every time I touch it, it's like WOW! This one doesn't have a lot of lighter streaks running through it... but I like it... see the black one below...
Just for fun then, I grabbed a synthetic buffalo horn and turned it. Night and day. Colors are different, feel is different, it's a totally different pen. See the light one below...
So I grabbed another Buffalo Horn last weekend... looking for a good kit to put it on. I'll share the pic when I find the kit!!!
Meanwhile, for the smoothest pen I own, yeah, it's the real buffalo horn!!!
