Another antler experiment

First let me say that this doesn't look as awkward in hand as it shows in the photo... don't know why. I had 7.62 x 39 casing and thought I'd try a modification of the longwood using antler with it. Fittings are copper from Woodturningz.

EDIT: Oops, sorry! I forgot to mention that this is made from the end of the palm (Fallow deer). Fallow has more pith than any antler I've turned to date... hence the peachish tan color.

That's antler? It has sort of a peach cast to it on my monitor. I like the idea and the pen.

I don't think it looks awkward at all. What part are you referring to? I like the color a lot.

Charles, I was referring to the antler portion looking rather out of proportion. Turning longwoods from wood don't seem to have this effect.

Even though the antler portion is longer, it's fitting the golden rule rather nicely. To me the proportions look very pleasing. Again, nice work.
