Amboyna on a Jr. Gent 1. This was my first amboyna - and I really like the smell of the stuff (once I took my dust mask off). Sanded through the CA finish twice (my errors), but the third time was the charm.
California Redwood Lace Burl on a shock absorber. Had to fill some of the voids with sanding dust and CA. Made this for a neighbor that loves hot rods and watches our pets when we go away.
Finished these 2 weeks ago. Had a rough turning time this past weekend. My middle son (age 10) wanted to turn a pen and it had been a while since he turned anything. Partway through he caught something and the blanks shattered:crying:. Fortunately it was a single tube pen and we have enough of that blank to try again. He wants to practice on a few pieces of scrap before he tries the pen again. Then I had to make him feel better by totally screwing up a blank I was turning :smile-big:. . .
