This was my first time using aluminum blanks. I apologize up front for my lack of photography skills...

Johnnycnc was kind enough to make these blanks for me. They came pre-squared, pre-drilled, and reamed to the perfect size so no brass tubes were needed. The service I received was second to none! Thanks John!!

The aluminum was turned on a normal wood lathe using a skew. I was a little apprehensive to turn these at first, but all in all it was no more difficult then TruStone.

Pen Details
Material: Aluminum (http://www.penturnersproducts.com/)

Kit: Hybrid Cigar (Black Tn/Platinum) (http://www.beartoothwoods.com/)
  • Dry sanded 240 to 600
  • Wet sanded with micromesh to 12,000
  • Brasso
  • 5 coats of spray lacquer
  • Buffed with EEE and White Diamond
  • Waxed
All in all this is by far the classiest pen I have completed to date. The aluminum and hybrid kit are a match made in heaven!

Looks pretty good from here. Nice combo.

Photo is a little dark, maybe you could try natural lighting with no flash.

VERY nice pairing indeed! I have an aluminum blank that I've bought literally years ago and have been afraid to give it a try. Everytime I see one like yours, it makes me think, darn I need to get that blank out and throw it on the lathe!
