Alumilite with 308 casing

I'm posting this one because the raw materials come from IAP suppliers.
Gary Max supplied the 308 casing.
Curtis Seebeck aka MesquiteMan cast the alumilite blank for me.

The kit is a black enamel CSUSA slimline.
I painted the inside of the tube using Blue Testor's RC Model paint.
After skewing the blank to shape, I wet-sanded with MM and put on two
light coats of CA then buffed everything with a carnuba top-coat.

Looks interesting, Gary. Do you have a brighter pic by any chance so we can see the marvelous casting that was done?[]

Also, just to clarify, the casting is NOT cactus. I will let Gary tell you as much as he chooses about it.

Heck I still want to try turning the end that is shaped like a casing.

I'll be buying fresh batteries today and take a new photo tonight. The casting is not only well done but much easier to turn than I anticipated. [8D]

The blank is shredded paper I sent to Curtis which he cast using Amber Alumilite. It's the same casting material he uses to make the cactus blank.

That's right, and all the mistakes are mine. The casting is quite well done. [^]

Cast `stuff' with meaning only to intended recipients.
The blanks are done in amber, clear, red, and blue.
Methinks when I make the segmented ones, they'll be rather attractive.
This stuff turns very nicely. [8D]
I'm saving money for some of them Cacti!
