Hey there,

This one was SUCH A PAIN! It refused to be turned and finished but I managed to win. There are days you better not turn, this was one!

It's african blackwood burl with chatoyant sapwood, the burl on this wood is really small eyes, subtle and hard to capture.

Seems like a happy ending the Sapwood as you said is also outstanding, it happens only rarely you get both together a bit like the constellations combining. Even though the grain is gnarly looking the finished pen is beaut. The magnification is so much larger than normal size acne sets in it even survives that.

I am more of a fan of African Blackwood than Ebony as Ebony can be fractured and cranky for mine the price is unrealistic.
