This was my first time turning African Blackwood. I had some issues at the beginning but in the end it turned into a nice pen. I had some scuffs show up when using Micromesh but those mistakes will hopefully disappear with more practice

Thanks for reminding me. I have several blanks of African Blackwood in my blank rack and have never turned it.
If I can make as close to yours I'll really be happy. Great job.

Nice looking pen. I've been using micromesh for about 20 years on models. I find using a light touch helps a lot, hold the pad to the piece with just enough pressure to keep it from getting away from you and let it do the work, not your fingers. Spending more time on the lower grits gets the surface nice & level so the higher grits can give a fine polish. Others may do it differently, but once you find what works for you, it's hard to beat.

Such an interesting material to work with. You brought out the colors beautifully and finished it well! Great pen!

When I tried out blackwood, my hands ended up black! I like getting messy in the workshop!
