Blank from WPP.
Shortened to 1.884"(tossed the little "thingy").
Sanded MM12000.
Brasso Metal polish after that.

I cut it on the band saw, used my deburring tool(from my rifle reloading supplies) on the tube, and re-squared it with the pen mill to the desired length.

I use one of the shorter pens as my daily writer and it has held up great. I also use my bandsaw to cut the tubes, but can't always get them square.

I actually stole the idea from an electonics application. If you get scratches on your cell phone or mp3 screen, you can remove or at least lessen the noticeability of them with a soft cloth and brasso. I thought I would give it a try on an acrylic blank and sure enuogh, Wow it really shines it up. Seems to also leave a clear "protective" film which seems to resist dirt and grime. It works very well on crystal watch faces to remove fine scratches. If you turn synthetics, I'd sure give it a try. Does not take much, I put it on with lathe running, shut it off and buff it out with a soft cloth.
