Thanks for all the helpfull tips. I searched the forums for the reverse painting method. I learned a lot. Tonight i gave it a try and the results were alot better. obviously the darker pen is the painted one. I did'nt have any paint to use but i have five daughters so i stole some purple finger nail polish and it worked pretty well. I still have a long way to go but i've found that making pens is all about trial and error. Mistakes and failures are gonna happen but thats ok as long as i learn somthing new from each one. Thanks again to all who gave some imput on the first.

Much improved. My best tip for you would be to use a different blank, though. I have some of that, and it is totaly unforgiving of any errors in drilling and painting. Because it is so translucent, everything shows up. Try some more opaque blanks, until you get the hang of the drilling and painting, and then come back to this.
