I wanted to try this... but it came out pretty sketchy...

What is used to fill the cuts with black?

Thanks...

<br />Marc,

Burning in with a wire definitely (Spelled Correctly!!!) is the usual way, but a fine tipped Sharpie marker also works well.

I used a sharpie on this pen... hmm.... must be operator error [:D]

The wire I've used is trace wire used for fishing lines with the nylon coating stripped from it. Only word of caution for someone thinking of using wire for the first time is to fit some small handles on each end to hold it. You do not want to wrap it around fingers, it would sever them very neatly if the wire tangles!

I read a tip from Russ Fairfield I think, he stripped the center out of a twist tie and wrapped it around a couple of small dowels. It has worked very good for me.

Youy can also use a cotton string,Do it before you seal.
With the string you don't have to worry about buring or cutting your fingers.
The cotton heats up quicker and chars the surface beneath it.

They're not terrible, but not real good either.... but at this stage I am not worried about that... these are already thrown into a drawer... I wanted to work on finishing, making wooden centrbands, black accents/details, and the photography....

Just want to make progress in the skills... [:)]
