Okay so after messing with this thing for hours here it is. Drove me nuts I could not get it to shine up. Once it was all said and done I am fairly happy with. After the pen was together I did find a spot about the size of a pencil eraser that was still dull. I was ticked.

So let me have. The good, bad and the ugly.

Looks awesome. You did great at matching the top of the lower bushing.

I use 2 coats of thin CA followed by 3-4 coats of thick CA and LIGHT sanding. No dull spots. Anything less and it is 50/50 whether I get dull spots or not!

No criticisms here. Lookin' good. BTW, if you want boring predictability in your choice of pen materials, go with synthetics. [;)] The 'natural' nature of wood is what makes it intriguing and beautiful. [;)]

Thanks everyone. For some reason the lower barrel just did not want to stop absorbing the CA. I think it has about 10 coats of thin CA and 5 coats of medium. I left the knot in the upper barrel instead of cutting it out. To me it just added character.
