I never thought about using a 2x4 and my dad is a builder! I know some framers that would love to have pens like that.

Nice work. If your not using the clips, why not try doing the top closed end and get rid of the finial.

Very nice. When I first started turning I did not want to practice on expensive woods so I used left over studs and made a couple of "tire thumpers".
