Here are 2 new prototype pens I have been experimiting with.
The top pen is made with the VIETNAM Service Ribbon, cast in clear PR Resin. The bottom pen is a Silver Star Ribbon. Both of the bottom barrels are made using Oliv Drab yarn and CA glue. Both of these pens were gifts to former Army servicemen. Please let me know what everyone thinks.

I like the gesture....and I like the bottom barrels...kinda' matching the "army green" idea....I'm not sure I like the ribbons that way. I wonder if they would be more fetching if a miniature representation of them were cast into the top barrel over a "gun metal" tube?

That looks like what I came up with for my FIL that I submitted to last years birthday bash. I used dyed curly chestnut with a .308 casing bottom. Great job on the pens.

that is a fantastic idea you have got there.
I can picture a very emotional reception for each of those pens.
I think taking what you've got and moving the kit up to a rollerball or fountain pen with a removable cap would be the only thing I can imagine as an improvement on what you've done already.
