I think it turned out pretty good...Fiddleback maple with blue food coloring for dye. CA Finish..

Jeff, looks great. I did a pen for one son who got his second Masters from U of M. I used the Blue and Yellow food coloring. Got reasonable close to the "Maze and Blue" colors. The wood was poplar. Maple would have given me different results. Keep playing and having fun.:D:D:D

thanks all for the nice comments!! I was pretty pleased with the outcome of this one and it was much easier than I thought...

I just turned the lathe on about 1300 (same speed I apply CA) and put a couple of drops of blue food coloring on my nitrile glove covered finger and spread it over the barrel same as I do with CA. This is only one coating, so I think the next one will get a couple of coats to see if I can get an even deeper coloring...

As for the pictures...Sorry for the small size!! Still trying to figure out how to get them bigger and still keep them within the size limit...I'll keep workin' on it though!!
