Blackwood, Bloodwood, curly Maple and a Dr. Pepper can.

This was my second attempt using a soda can, I think I'm hooked!! Cheap and easy effect. You can't even tell the aluminium is in there when cutting or sanding.

Comments welcome.

Hi,

Great pen, i really like it. Not only the allu looks great but it also prevent the darker wood to bleed in the lighter one.
Did you drill the blanks pieces before cutting and assembling or did you just drilled it after it was all glued together.

I'm impressed, great idea. Looks very high end. No problems with bleed over from the aluminum or contrasting colors? Whats your finish, CA? Again, great job.

To answer some of the questions,

I used thick CA to Glue the blank together.

I use thick CA to glue in my tubes.

I use the sides of a soda can(flat and easy to handle)

I have not seen any bleeding of any kind, I have been using DNA to clean the blank before finishing.

My finish is several coats of BLO/CA finished with one coat of Mylands and then Rennasance Wax.

Thanks for all you comments.

Go recyle some soda can!!(into pens of course)
