A wise person on this forum once said that.

Prickley Pear Cactus. Don't let Mesquite Man see this.
Photography has never been my forte. Got a new lite kit for Christmas and this is the first time I've used it. The cactus is actually gray. Yeah, gray, it seemed like a good idea at the time. I'll have to see what these pictures post like but the picture sure doesn't look like the pen.
Be gentle people, first turning I've done in over 6 months but there it is. Pictures! It did happen!

You have parentheses () in your filenames. Rename the photos on your computer, then upload again.

I've tried to use different things to get a halfway decent picture of Curtis' Cactus pen. Whatcha think? These were taken in a Wallyworld tent using camera flash, without flash, overhead lite on and off. This picture taking is a whole new concept of penturning.

One thing I notice after posting is that the focus is pimped. I'm using a Kodak 6490, on a tripod, timed exposure, at about 18 inches above the pen and zoomed in to fill lens. What's wrong? It's a Plat/titanium kit. Vern Oh, and it is set to the "flower" setting.

That is the problem, Vern. You should have used the pen setting:D[}:)];)

At 18", you may well be outside the macro range of the camera. Try it the same way except turn off the macro and see if it's better.
