Hi,
I was woundering if anyone has bought a TurnCrafter variable speed lathe, and if so how do they like it or dislike it? I have been wanting a variable speed lathe and this one is in my budget. I will only be using it for pen turning. Thanks for any help and this is a awesome site.

I have one of the older non-VS Turncrafters. Replacing the belt, convinced me that there had to be a better way to make lathes. I had thought about either: A. upgrade the motor; B. buy the new model, or C. upgrade to a proven, time tested set-up that was on sale, the JET 1014 VS. I opted to go with option C, converting the Turncrafter into a dedicated wood buffing station. I can still turn on it and it has given good service but I feel I turn a better product on the JET and the VS is a great feature. just my two cents worth.
