Kenn, not a bad idea!

Any thoughts on how you'd like to see it?
On the front page, in a format similar to our Active Topics?

One of these days, we'll provide an RSS feed too [:)]

VIA Yahoo:
RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is an XML-based format for distributing web content (such as news headlines or new content in your group). Using RSS, you can display the newest messages for this group in your web log (otherwise known as blog) or view them in an RSS reader.

Don't feel bad PALEYDP...I didn't know that either and I've been on Yahoo over five years. Even administer a couple of Yahoo groups. In fact I'm still not sure what it is or does.

If it is easier to read that those digests I get from the penturner group - I'm for it. Starting to loose interest in reading that site even though there is some good information every once in a while.

This format, and the one at woodcrafters, are so much easier to read as the past postings are easy to scan so the majority of people don't keep including old postings in their reply.

I hope this doesn't change as a part of an "improvement". I am going to look into the RSS things to see if it will make the Yahoo Group postings easier to follow.

The RSS feeds don't make anything any easier. Basically, an RSS feed is an XML document that contains "headlines" or in the case of Yahoo Groups, the titles, author, and a link back to Yahoo to see the post. You still have to see the ads...

Have you tried reading Yahoo by using the digest feature of the Yahoo Penturners search we provide? (Link is on the front page) If you click the Get Digest button in the Retrieve a Group of Messages, you can see whatever recent bunch of messages you want, from the last 25 back to 5 days. Once the window opens with the digest, you can click "Suppress Quoted Text" and get rid of most of the repeated junk people don't bother to snip out. The down side is that you don't know what you've read or not. I just check it out every night using a digest with the last day time span and stop reading when it looks familiar.

I'll have the Yahoo RSS feed going in a day or so.

Here at penturners.org, we aim to please. Kenn, check out the Yahoo feeds. Let me know what you don't like. I tried the strikethrough on visited links to help keep track of what you've already seen. Lots of traffic on that list...

Works great!! To bad it wont show you all the messages you havn't looked at .... but I guess with the penturners group it would be a mile long. Thanks for setting it up now I don't have to go there unless I want to read something. [:D]

The most you can get on the feed from Yahoo is 15 messages. Glad you like, and thanks for the great idea!
