Default Beginners Help

Hello, I am relatively new to I.A.P. & a bit of a "newbie" when it comes to sites such as this. I need help navigating the site.
I have a lot of questions to ask, but I have no idea of where I should go to get started.
I thought I'd just post a few messages at different places on the forum, & see who answers me, or maybe can make some "constructive" suggestions on which way to proceed navigating this site.
So, if this gets through to somebody & you are inclined to take pity on this "fumbler" answer my plea would you please........

Thanx...Ric.

You can ask most any pen question in the Penturning Forum.

Go to the PENTURNING Forum and start reading. If you see something mentioned that sparks your interest just jump into the conversation with a posting of your own of start a new thread with your own statement or question. If you have a specific topic in mind do a search on the FORUMS. Chances are someone has brought it up before and you can get an idea of how to proceed with your inquiry there. Just dive in and join in, you won't sink and the water is great.

I agree with Ric , I also have no idea where to ask questions. I tried to post a question on the 'Forum How-To' but was unable to do so due to restricted access.

Navigating the site, understanding the lingo: It can be overwhelming. For me, Having been raised in the south with East coast, West coast and MidWest relatives, AND having lived internationally for 25+ years, (plus bi-lingual in speaking & reading and writing a difficult East Asia language) . . .

. . . I have learned that normal language words have different and confusing meanings in different circumstances to different people from different areas of each section of the country ! ! ! ! !

"How-To" section is not primarily for asking questions about how to do something, but rather a section of collection of PDF manuals or explanations of specific how to make or do something that others want to know how to do. When enough people ask "How do I do this", . . . Then an experienced person will write up an explanation for all to read.

There are other forums or sections here that are specialized such as how to make and cast resin blanks, or specialized forum that deals specifically with finishes. It is OK to ask questions here related to finishes.

GENERAL Questions including blanks, drilling, tools, gluing, finishes are always Ok to ask on the PENTURNING Forum as Jeff specified. Occasionally, someone will direct you to an answer or list of answers on other specific forums. But it is always good to start asking questions on the PENTURNING forum, that Jeff listed. http://www.penturners.org/forum/f14/
